“Simply 6-minutes” Writing Challenge 07/14/2020

Hello everyone! Today I am going to do a challenge from Stine Writing. Her blog is very interesting, and full of wonderful writing 🙂 You can visit it here: https://christinebialczak.com

You can find the prompt here: https://christinebialczak.com/2020/07/14/simply-6-minutes-writing-challenge-3/comment-page-1/#comment-3744

This is the picture for the prompt:

So, here’s what I came up with during 6 minutes:

(Note: This is free-verse poetry, and it is also completely unedited, so there might be a few mistakes.)

There’s a sea in front of me

And a sea of lawn chairs behind me.

I take a whiff of the salty air,

Putting down my towel and slathering on sunblock.

I splash around in the waves.

Some are bubbly, some are quiet.

I imagine

What it would be like

If I captured this in a picture.

I take out my phone

And snap away.

At the end of the day,

Curled up in my hotel bed,

Buried under the covers,

I look back

At the photos I took today.

I wish I remembered more about today.

But there is no feeling in my pictures.

I believe

I should have been capturing the moment with my mind and senses

Instead of capturing it with a phone.

So that’s it! I hope this was okay; this is my first writing challenge.

Anyway, thank you very much to Christine Bialczak and I will see you all next time!
